Benue Assembly confirms appointment of new Benue Chief Judge

Governor Ortom and Benue State Chief Judge, Justice Maurice Ikpambese

Benue House of Assembly on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Justice Maurice Ikpambese as the Chief Judge of Benue.

The confirmation followed a correspondence from Benue government signed by Secretary to the state government, Prof. Anthony Ijohor (SAN) to the state assembly and read by the deputy speaker, Mr Christopher Adaji.

According to the correspondence, Ikpambese was recommended for the appointment by the National Judicial Council of Nigeria.

In a remark, the House Minority Leader, Mr Bem Mngutyo and Mr William Ortyom (Guma/PDP) described Ikpambese as a competent Jurist and a household name in the justice profession.

They therefore, supported his confirmation, saying that he has fulfilled all the criteria for the office.

On his part, Ikpambese appreciated the lawmakers and Gov Samuel Ortom for finding him worthy of elevation to the position of chief Judge of the state.(NAN)
