
DG Benue Public Service Institute Makurdi, Prof. Terkura Tarnande

The Director General, Benue Public Service Institute, Makurdi, Professor Terkura Tarnande has revealed the decision of the management of the Institute to commence Postgraduate diploma programmes as part of efforts to meet the mandate of the Institute and in compliance with the seven point agenda of the Governor Hyacinth Alia led administration.
Addressing about 40 participants (civil servants from the state and the local government areas) on e- governance at the Institute, the DG disclosed that the postgraduate diploma programmes were to further equip the people in various areas of endeavour, adding that Civil Servants were free to avail themselves of the opportunity.
Professor Tarnande revealed the Institute would start the postgraduate diploma programmes in Public Administration, Management, Accounting and Mass Communication among certificates courses in different areas for the benefit of the people of the state and beyond.
The DG, who appreciated the Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Iormem Alia for providing all that was required for the Benue Civil Servants to acquire the training skills free of charge urged the Civil Servants to use the opportunity to acquire the necessary training for optimal performance in their various offices.
As he described the Benue civil servants as the blessed generation in Benue State, Professor Tarnande noted that with the training, they would be useful to the government and even when they retire they would remain useful to themselves and the society.
Professor Tarnande assured that he was determined to do everything possible to achieve the mandate of the Institute and called on the Benue Civil Servants not to fail him as he too would not fail the Benue State Government and the people of the state.
In his remarks, the Managing Director, Benue Digital Infrastructure Company, Mr. Timothy Gbande, encouraged the participants to take the training seriously as he emphasized that business and governance have gone digital.
The Managing Director assured the participants that they were going to be provided with computers to enable them practice what they have learnt during the training.
With the required training, the MD noted with satisfaction that the Civil Servants would not only reduce cost in governance and stress would equally be reduced for the Civil Servants.
The category of trainees from the forty thousand Civil Servants in the state were Directors and Deputy Directors even as another category would come for the training after this one.
