About twenty-nine corpses have been recovered in River Niger following a Wednesday boat mishap that killed over one hundred and fifty passengers at Tsohuwar Labata in Ngaski LGA of kebbi State.
Kebbi State Secretary, Nigeria Red Cross Society, Mr Ibrahim Ngaski told Radio Nigeria that the rescue team of Red Cross, Marine Police and Fishermen are still searching for more bodies.
He reiterated the urgency of discovering the bodies, despite the challenges of inadequate logistics such as speed boats, life jackets and stretchers.

“Most of the bodies recovered, their eyes were removed by big fish in the river and their bodies have started to decompose, Soon more dead bodies will decompose and floating on the water and will contaminate the water”, he said.
He called on the federal and state governments as well as other organizations to assist in providing these logistics, to encourage rescue teams particularly fishermen and volunteers to continue with the operation.
