
Borno State Governor, Hon. Umar Kadufur

The Borno State government on Wednesday celebrated 25 years of democracy in Nigeria. Acting Governor Umar Usman Kadafur congratulated Nigerians on this milestone, acknowledging the challenges faced but celebrating the achievements made so far.
Kadafur praised security agencies for restoring peace in the state, which has been plagued by Boko Haram insurgency for over a decade.
He announced the constitution of a high-powered committee to facilitate the relocation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Guzamala and Kukawa Local Government Areas.
The committee will also oversee the repatriation of refugees from neighboring countries. Kadafur promised to continue delivering people-oriented projects and programmes, in line with the state government’s 10-point agenda.
In a show of mercy, Kadafur announced the pardon of 10 prisoners serving various jail terms at the maximum prison in Maiduguri. This gesture was seen as a way to give the prisoners a second chance at life.
APC Chairman in the state, Bello Ayuba commended the Governor Babagana Zulum and his deputy, Umar Kadufur for their efforts and services to the state. He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their leadership and economic stabilization.
Ayuba called on all to rally around the governor and state government to support developmental projects. He urged citizens to put aside their differences and work towards building a better Borno State.
On his part, the Speaker, Borno State House of Assembly, Abdulkarim Lawan congratulated Nigerians and the people of Borno State on the successful democracy. He commended Governor Zulum for his performance and achievements.
Lawan assured legislative support and encouragement for the development and progress of the state. He appealed for the liberation of Fuzamala Local Government Area, which has been under the control of Boko Haram terrorists for over a decade.
The Shehu of Borno, HRH, Alh. Abubakar Ibn Garbai Umar El Kanemi, represented by the Waziri of Borno, Shetima Matawalle Bukar, pledged continuous support and cooperation to the state government.
The Secretary, Borno Elders Forum, Dr. Bulama Mali Gubio, commended political leaders for their services and called for democratic values. He urged leaders to prioritize the welfare of citizens and work towards building a better future.
The celebration was attended by top government officials, traditional leaders, and stakeholders. It was a moment of reflection and celebration, as citizens looked forward to a brighter future.
