Borno Govt distributes 5000 livestock to 2,500 IDPs in Pulka

Borno State Government in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have commenced the distribution of 5000 livestock to 2,500 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Pulka town of Gwoza LGA of the state.

The State Deputy Governor, Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur while flagging off the distribution on Thursday, said that as part of the 3rd pillar of the Borno State 25 years Development Plan and 10-Year Strategic Transformation Agenda,. Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum led administration is vigorously pursuing strategies that will uplift the living standard of its people, and one of the strategy is the collaboration with development partners which has yielded positive dividends.

Kadafur also expressed gratitude of the Borno State Government to the donor agencies under the regional stabilization facility and the UNDP for the mutually beneficial collaboration which has culminated into the realization of event.

The deputy governor further called on the beneficiaries to take care of their livestock as they are capable of changing their economic fortune if properly managed.

He called on the people to continue to support the government of Prof Babagana Umara Zulum so that more of such support will be extended to their community while promising that government will continue to do everything possible to uplift the living standard of the vulnerable population as part of the government’s recovery, peace and stabilization plan.

The Permanent Secretary Ministry of RRR, Alhaji Yusuf said the Ministry distributed 3000 goats and sheep to 500 female beneficiaries with additional 200 to be distributed before the end of this year.

He added that this singular effort is geared towards the restoration of lost of means of livelihood of the displaced communities, reduce poverty, over dependence on handouts and put them back on economic independence.

The Member representing Gwoza at the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdullahi Buba Abatcha and the Chairman of Gwoza, Mohammed Dan Jato thanked Borno State government and UNDP for the kind gesture presented to the vulnerable people of Pulka Community.

The Occasion was attended by H.R.H The Emir of Gwoza Alhaji Muhammad Ibn Idrisa Timta.

The Deputy Governor was accompanied during the occasion by Member representing Biu at State House of Assembly, Hon.Yakubu Gambo Kimba, Hon.Commissioner of Inter Governmental Affairs and Special duties Hon.Tukur Ibrahim Shani, Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Tourism, Hon.Tarpaya Asarya, Deputy Chief of staff Alhaji Haruna Hassan Tela, Principle Secretary Alhaji Isa Alkali Goni, Executive Secretary BOGIS, Engr Adam Bukar Bababe, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistant and Special Assistants, Permanent Secretaries, stakeholders, among others.
