The Borno State Government has inuagurated The Committee for the Absorption of World Bank’s Projects into the multi-sectoral crisis recovery projects for the Lake Chad Basin.
Inaugurating the committee on Saturday in his office at the Government House, Maiduguri, The Deputy Governor, Hon. Umar kadafur, said the formation of the committee became necessary for the state government to consolidate on the integrated central channel of streaming broader coordination of World Bank projects in the state to avoid duplication of the multiple projects being implemented by the development partners.
The Deputy Governor also added that the committee members were chosen across board based on their proven integrity with their pedigree in separate civil and public services, while expressing confidence in them to deliver their assignment successfully.
Hon. kadafur, further, implored them to justify the confidence reposed in them by adhering to the terms of reference and the time line of the assignment, while assuring that the state government is fully committed to supporting them in every possible way to facilitate the smooth implementation of the assignment.
In his response on behalf of the members of the committee, the Chairman of the Committee who is also the State Commissioner of Borno State Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (RRR), Engr Mustapha Gubio, said the members of the committee were very much aware of the enomous task ahead of them but expressed hope that with the calibre of members of the committee, they would complete the assignment successful within the time frame.
Engr. Gubio also appreciated Governor Babagana Zulum for finding them worthy to work in the committee and gave them the opportunity to serve in that capacity while promising to adhere strictly to the terms of reference of the Committee.
He also appealed to all the development partners to continue to support the state government to rebuild the destroyed Committees.
