Borno State Police Command has reiterated its ban on motorcycles and electrical bikes in the state, warning that anyone found in possession of these vehicles will be arrested and prosecuted.
The Command spokesman, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, who stated this in a statement on Thursday, said the decision was taken at the Borno State Security Council based on the security challenges in the state.
ASP Daso added that the ban was initially imposed due to security challenges in the state and remains in effect.
He warned filling stations against selling petrol products to motorcyclists, threatening to sanction and seal any erring stations.
The police spokesman, however, advised delivery and logistic companies to use tricycles (Keke Napep) for their operations.
He said the police command is appealing for the cooperation of the general public in maintaining peace and security in the state.
