The Borno State University (BOSU) has appointed Engr. Professor Babagana Gutti as its new Vice-Chancellor, effective October 18, 2024.
The appointment, announced by the University Registrar and Secretary to Council, Zanna M. Kashim, was approved by the Governing Council with the backing of His Excellency, Professor (Engr.) Babagana Umara Zulum, the Executive Governor of Borno State and Visitor of the University.
Professor Gutti, previously from the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Maiduguri, will serve a single five-year term.
In this role, he will act as the Chief Executive and Chief Accounting Officer, overseeing all aspects of the university’s operations.
As Chairman of the Senate and an ex-officio member of the Governing Council, Professor Gutti is responsible for the day-to-day management of human resources, finances, and material resources within the university.
He will also be responsible for leading the university’s academic and administrative departments, ensuring the implementation of the university’s strategic plan, mission, and vision.
The University Registrar congratulated Professor Gutti on behalf of the visitor and the Governing Council.
