Buni launches school feeding program, distributes 100,000 textbooks, laboratory equipment

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has launched school feeding programme with chicken and egg been added to the daily menu of students of all government boarding secondary schools and colleges in the state.

The governor also launched the distribution of 100,000 textbooks and laboratory equipment to the state government secondary schools and colleges.

While launching the two programmes in Damaturu, the state capital, Governor Buni said the aim of the procurement and distribution of educational facilities was to fulfil government’s electioneering campaign to revive the education system and strongly improve on the basic educational standard in the state.

“I am particularly delighted with this occasion marking the launching of the Maiden Education Day and Enhanced School Feeding Programme and Distribution of 100,000 Text books and modern laboratory equipment to secondary schools in the state.

“I am particularly impressed with the usage of modern instruments and application of a combination of conventional and innovative techniques in teaching and learning processes which the Ministry invented in our schools.

“I am excited that we can today proudly tell our stories of success on the account of hard work and commitment of the state government following the declaration of State of Emergency on Education by this administration,” Buni said.

The governor further said the declaration of emergency has yielded impressive performance by students in national examinations while expressing his satisfaction with the level of performance of the education sector, saying “we have strong reasons to celebrate the impressive achievements recorded in the basic and secondary education.”

Governor Buni also declared 1st July every year as “Education Day” in the state to be celebrated in appreciation and recognition of development of education in the state.

In his remark, the Yobe State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Muhammad Sani El Bature while commending the support and encouragement of the governor to the education sector, described the successes recorded so far by the present administration in the education sector as unprecedented.

“Education in Yobe state has progressed to many levels compare to the past and the future of the state is very bright and prosperous”, El Bature said .
