Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle
Head Coach Eric Chelle has finalized the 23-man Super Eagles B squad for the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN), set to take place in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda from August 2 to 30. The team, led by captain Junior Nduka, includes key players like defender Sikiru Alimi and forward Godwin Obaje.
The squad also features goalkeeper Ozoemena Ani, defenders Sodiq Ismaila and Stephen Mayo, midfielders Hadi Haruna and Alex Oyowah, and forwards Anas Yusuf and Ijoma Anthony, among others.
The team is scheduled to depart for Zanzibar on Thursday evening via Ethiopian Airlines for final preparations. After weeks of training at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has organized a second-phase training camp in Zanzibar from Friday to July 31. The team will then move to official tournament accommodations on the island.
The NFF has also arranged two friendly matches against Zanzibar’s Senior National Team, scheduled for Monday and July 31, to fine-tune the squad’s readiness. Nigeria, silver medalists in 2018 and bronze winners in 2014, is placed in Group D alongside defending champions Senegal, Sudan, and Congo.
The Super Eagles B will face Senegal and Sudan at Amman Stadium in Zanzibar for their opening matches before meeting Congo at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
