In the spirit of forthcoming Christmas celebration, the Borno State First Lady, Falmata Zulum has disbursed N30,000,000.00 (thirty million naira ) to 600 (six hundred) Christian widows and orphans .
The First Day also distributed palliatives to the 600 widows and orphans at the Government House Maiduguri on Wednesday.
Distributing the items, she extended her words of felicitation to the Christian faithful and commiserated with the widows and orphans who have faced hardships due to the loss of their loved ones.
Zulum also reiterated the government’s commitment to support and cater for the less privileged and helpless while emphasizing the need and importance of peace and harmony amongst the people.
She added that the gesture was aimed at enabling them to celebrate the Christmas and New Year but way of providing succor to those in need.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Zuwaira Gambo commended the concern and efforts of the Wife of the Governor while highlighting Governor Zulum’s administration commitment for an inclusive leadership.
According to her, the state government will continue to support it’s citizens to meet up with the yearnings and aspirations of the people.
Highlights of the event include the symbolic presentation of food palliatives to the beneficiaries, disbursement of N50,000 cash, one 25 kg bag of rice, one gallon/5 liters of vegetable cooking oil, and one carton of macaroni to each beneficiary.
Dignitaries present include the wife of the Deputy Governor, Hajiya Maimuna Kadafur, Permanent Secretary of the ministry, wives of commissioners and chairmen of Local Government Areas among many others.
