C’River APC rejects Akpabuyo byelection results over malpractices, vows to reclaim mandate

PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State on Wednesday rejected the results of the Akpabuyo State Constituency byelection following the discovery of mind-boggling malpractices and electoral frauds perpetuated by the opposition Peoples democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary Eramous Ekpang, and made available to newsmen in Calabar, the party said it rejected entirety the outcome of the February 26th, 2022 Akpabuyo State Constituency election.

Mr. Ekpang noted that the result as declared by INEC was not a true reflection of the actual voting.

He said: “The APC will not allow declaration of the PDP Candidate as winner of the election to stand”.

“Brazen manipulation and distortion of figures by the PDP characterised the election and we are primed to use legal means to correct this anomaly.

“Our great Party will therefore be heading to the tribunal to reclaim the mandate clearly and freely given to our candidate, Bassey Ekpo”

“We thank the people of Akpabuyo State Constituency for overwhelmingly voting the APC during the election.

The APC spokesman in the state, however, urged the party’s supporters and members in the Constituency to remain calm while it explores legal means to retrieve its mandate.
