As Nigerians gear up for Christmas festivities, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged citizens to embrace moderation, peace and personal responsibility, particularly in the use of alcohol during the holiday season.
Speaking during an interview on News Century TV, the President stressed that the yuletide period should be a time of joy, unity and safety, not one marred by avoidable tragedies or disorder. He appealed to Nigerians to celebrate in a way that protects lives and preserves public peace.
Tinubu reminded citizens that Christmas is meant to strengthen bonds across communities and families, urging everyone to be mindful of their actions as they revel.
“Stay in peace, dance in peace, no alcohol, no danger to anyone’s life,” the President said.
He further encouraged Nigerians to see one another as members of a single national family, calling for mutual care, respect and consideration throughout the festive season.
According to the President, celebrating responsibly is not just a personal choice but a collective duty that ensures the season remains one of happiness, harmony and shared goodwill across the country.
