Police authorities have discovered the severely decomposed body of a 55-year-old man inside a vehicle parked near the annex gate of the National Assembly complex in Abuja.
The deceased, identified by police as Gaddafi Iwar, a Tiv laborer reportedly employed at a construction site within the complex, was found in a red Peugeot 406, registered BWR-577 BF, around 9:00 a.m.
According to police reports, “The body was in an advanced state of decomposition, indicating the individual had been deceased for some time before discovery.”
The remains were first transported to the National Assembly Clinic for medical verification but were later moved to Asokoro General Hospital.
A hospital spokesperson noted, “Due to the extreme decomposition, we were unable to accept the body for further processing.”
The incident has raised concerns about security and oversight within the National Assembly premises, with investigations ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding Iwar’s death.
