The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Thursday, June 12, a public holiday to commemorate the 2025 Democracy Day celebration.
This was announced by Mrs Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.
According to Ajani, Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, declared the holiday on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulating Nigerians on 26 years of uninterrupted civil rule.
*”June 12 represents our historic journey to building a nation where truth and justice reign and peace is sustained and our future assured,”* Tunji-Ojo said.
The minister highlighted the significance of this milestone, emphasizing Nigerians’ “resilience, strength and courage and a hope Renewed than ever.”
He reaffirmed the Renewed Hope government’s commitment to democracy, stating that it is founded on the “freely-expressed will of the people in determining Nigeria’s political, economic, social and cultural systems.”
