Voting got off to an early start on Saturday across several parts of Anambra State as the governorship election commenced, according to reports from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
At Polling Units (PUs) 001, 002, and 003 located within Nwikpa Primary School, as well as PU 009 at Nkwo Market and PU 013 at Amaokwu Hall — all in Umunze Ward I of Orumba South Local Government Area — officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arrived with election materials around 8:10 a.m.
Voters were already on ground, checking their names on the register, while a few accredited individuals had begun casting their ballots.

In Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area, election materials were being arranged and set up by INEC officials as early as 8:15 a.m., signaling a smooth start to the exercise.
At PU 005 Amanudo, PU 014 Obi-Nkwo Square, PU 003 Agba Village Hall, and PU 004 Umueze Nwafor Primary School, officials took time to brief voters on proper voting procedures and common errors to avoid before pasting the voter registers on nearby walls for easy verification.
By the time NAN correspondents visited, queues had already formed, and voters were actively casting their ballots.
Similarly, at Obiuno Youth Centre (PUs 003 and 004) and Amakpu Square (PU 005) in Igbo-Ukwu, election materials and INEC staff arrived at about 8:30 a.m., and voter accreditation had begun.
Voting and accreditation were also underway at Eze Chima Primary School along Awka Road in Onitsha. However, at All Saints Primary School, also in Onitsha, voting was yet to commence as of 8:30 a.m.
NAN further observed that security personnel were present at the polling stations visited, ensuring orderliness and safety throughout the process.
