Easter: BSEMA distributes relief materials to IDPs, others in Benue

The Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA) has again commenced the distribution of essential food and non food materials to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to cushion the effect of their sufferings

The Acting Executive Secretary of BSEMA, Sir James Anodoakaa Iorpuu, performed the function on behalf of the State Governor on Wednesday at the BSEMA headquarters, Makurdi.

While flagging off the distribution exercise, Sir Iorpuu informed that the distribution of the food and non food materials was targeted at IDPs camps and those who were recently displaced in Kwande, Katsina – Ala, Ukum, Apa, Okpokwu, Agatu and Guma among other affected communities.

The Executive Secretary maintained that the benevolent gesture was part of Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia’s spirit of both Easter and a continuation of routine food assistance to displaced population affected by armed herdsmen and other forms of disasters.

He appreciated Governor Alia for consistently responding to the plights of IDPs, assuring that all the relief materials would reach them before Easter celebration.

The assorted food items includes thousands of bags of rice (25kg) beans (25kg) maize (25kg), garri (25kg) hundreds gallons of red and vegetable oil (20 litres) as well as bags of sugar, salt and noodles.

Non food items distributed include: mattresses, detergents, soap, among others.
