The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) said it had fully restored power supply to its customers in parts of Anambra, including Awada, and other locations in the state.

This is contained in a statement by the Head, Corporate Communications of the Company, Mr Emeka Ezeh, in Onitsha on Wednesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the recent power outage was caused by the fault at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Station in Awada, near Onitsha.

Ezeh stressed that the power restoration to affected areas had followed the successful transfer of the affected 33KV feeders to the newly commissioned 100MVA power transfomer in TCN Station, Awada.

He apologised to customers of the company affected by the unfortunate and unforseen development, while thanking them for their patience and understanding during the power outage.

He appealed to customers to appreciate the position and role of the distribution companies in the electricity supply industry.

“Once there is a disruption within the space of any member of the value chain, it impacts on the service delivery of the distribution companies to customers.

“In this case, the power transformer belonging to TCN which serves as the source of power to our 33KV feeders was faulty, and as a result, we lost supply and could not serve our customers.

“For over a week, due to the faulty TR11, 60MVA power transformer at the TCN Station, Awada, we lost power supply and could not serve our customers.

“We also lost millions of naira as revenue within the period of the incident.” (NAN)
