As leaders play a crucial role in shaping the future, St. Augustine’s College, Kabba, Old Boys’ Foundation (SACKOBF) has taken a significant step towards nurturing the next generation of leaders by launching a comprehensive leadership training programme for the students and staff of the college.
The foundation, in collaboration with the John C. Maxwell Leadership Foundation (iLead), aims to instill essential leadership qualities in students and staff, emphasizing the values of character and integrity.
This initiative, according to Mr. Francis Onaiyekan, Committee Chairman of SACKOBF, underscores the importance of developing credible leadership in a world grappling with the repercussions of poor leadership.
He said in recognition of the fact that leadership encompasses more than just political figures, the programme seeks to empower every individual to assume leadership roles in various spheres of life.
Mr. Onaiyekan, a distinguished alumnus of St. Augustine’s College, Kabba and an esteemed member of the Guardian Newspaper’s Editorial Board, emphasized the critical link between character, integrity, and effective leadership.
He noted that through the foundation’s interventions, including funding educational initiatives and facilitating infrastructure development, SACKOBF is dedicated to reviving the Alma mater’s legacy of producing well-rounded leaders.
The Principal of the college, Femi Emmanuel Abolusoro, praised the foundation’s contributions to enhancing the learning environment and supporting teachers.
He said the foundation was able to achieve these by ensuring equitable compensation for teachers in the employment of the foundation and investing in both academic and leadership excellence, adding that SACKOBF is nurturing a culture of growth and innovation within the college.
As the foundation continues to make strides in fostering educational and leadership development at St. Augustine’s College, Kabba, stakeholders such as the chairman Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and the training coordinator of the Leadership programme, Mr. Osamola Emmanuel and Mrs Titilayo Olaosebikan, respectively, urged alumni and community members to join hands in empowering the next generation of leaders.
They noted that with a focus on holistic growth and academic excellence, the foundation’s vision for the college is poised to shape a brighter future driven by exemplary leadership and unwavering values.
