Akwa-Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has approved the immediate disbursement of ₦50 billion to contractors with verified Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs), in a move aimed at accelerating infrastructure development across the state.
The governor gave the directive during a project assessment visit to the Ibom Model Farm located in Ikot Edibon, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area. He instructed the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service to liaise with the Office of the Accountant General to ensure that all outstanding IPCs are settled without delay.
Governor Eno emphasized the urgency of mobilizing contractors back to their sites in order to take full advantage of the dry season.
> “Please ensure the monitoring teams are made to inspect and report compliance by the contractors,” he told Aniefiok Johnson, his Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Adviser.

Model School Project Tied to ARISE Agenda
In a separate stop, the governor restated his administration’s commitment to executing high-quality infrastructure projects designed to spur economic growth and development across the state.
He made the remarks while inspecting ongoing construction at the Model Secondary School in Ikot Akpan Abia Ubium, also in Nsit Ubium LGA — a flagship project under the educational component of the ARISE Agenda.
Describing the visit as part of his regular “walk-in” inspections, Governor Eno said physical project monitoring helps maintain transparency and accountability in the disbursement of public funds.
> “It is a walk-in visit because it is our habit to visit our project sites regularly, and I thank you for coming out to receive us,” he said.
> “I am here to inspect the level of work done so that when the bill is presented in the office, I will know if it aligns with the work on the ground. That is the way we work.”
The governor further explained that the model school project is a pilot initiative intended to serve as a template for similar projects in other senatorial districts.
> “You are all aware of government’s intention to build international model secondary schools across the three senatorial districts of the state. This, in particular, is to test if what we are about to do would be good for other senatorial districts,” he said.
According to Eno, the school project in Nsit Ubium represents the Uyo Senatorial District, and work is expected to be officially flagged off before the end of the year, pending the release of the supplementary budget.
> “We expect to flag off this project between now and December. We are just waiting for the supplementary budget to be released,” he added.
