Former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Prof. Olusola Eleka, and a former Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Boyega Aribisogan, were among the prominent figures who recently joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ekiti.
They were accompanied by key members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), and Labour Party (LP), who merged their political structures into the ADC during its official unveiling in Ado-Ekiti on Friday.
Other notable defectors include Dr. Tae Lawal, a former Deputy Governor under Governor Segun Oni, and Amb. Dare Bejide, a former Secretary to the State Government.
The group also includes Akin Omole, who served as Commissioner for Information under Kayode Fayemi, along with several former local government appointees and executive members from various political parties.
During the unveiling ceremony, the ADC State Chairman, Mr. Omolayo Omole, declared that the party holds the key to addressing Nigeria’s numerous challenges.
He called on political leaders across party lines in Ekiti to join the ADC to build a better nation.
In his remarks, Eleka described the ADC as a coalition of parties united for a “rescue mission.”
He dismissed skeptics, saying, “We are not chasing illusions but pursuing a tangible vision, and we are set to achieve great things. Like it or not, ADC is here to stay.”
Representing former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Prof. Bayo Fakunle emphasized that the ADC is poised to transform the political landscape, stating, “No force can halt a train in motion.”
