On Monday, September 15, 2025, Ishaku Joseph brought a case against his daughter’s boyfriend, Yunana Zock, before a Customary Court in Kaduna State, accusing him of misappropriating N13 million in death benefits belonging to Joseph’s late wife.
Prosecutor ASP Jeremiah Amfani informed the court that Zock allegedly deceived Joseph’s daughter, Emmanuella, and withdrew the N13 million, which had been deposited into her account in 2023 as the next of kin to her late mother.
Amfani stated, “The accused deceived Joseph’s daughter and withdrew N13 million paid as his wife’s death benefits.”
The case was investigated by the police following Joseph’s report.
During her testimony, Emmanuella revealed, “The accused took my ATM card without my knowledge and withdrew the money.”
In his defense, Zock claimed he transferred N11.9 million to Emmanuella’s account and that she had agreed to give him N2 million to start a business. He further noted that they had spent time together in Abuja, where they shared their ATM PINs.
Zock submitted his Opay account statement as evidence, which the court accepted, and indicated he would present a witness at the next hearing.
The presiding judge, Ms. Patience Musa, adjourned the case to September 30, 2025, for the continuation of Zock’s defense, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
