Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has called on publishers of online media to be objective and fair in their reportage.
Malam Bello made the call when he received a delegation of the Abuja-based members of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), led by the chairman, Mr. Tom Chiahemen (publisher of NATIONAL ACCORD Online), on a courtesy visit to the FCT Administration.
This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday by Chief Press secretary to the Minister, Mr. Anthony Ogunleye.

According to the statement, the Minister commended members of the association for upholding the dictates of journalism practice.
The Minister, who urged the online publishers to seek the truth in every story, pledged the support of FCTA for the association while urging it to partner with the Administration to build the FCT of our dreams.
He said: “Helping to build the FCT of our dreams is like helping ourselves because our children will be beneficiaries at the end of it all as they have nowhere else to call home.

“Without citizen engagement, nothing meaningful can be achieved. Every stakeholder has a stake in the Abuja project, so everyone has to play their part”.
He prayed for the advancement of the group.
Earlier, Mr. Chiahemen had solicited for a partnership between the association and the FCT Administration for proper portrayal of its activities.

He urged the Administration to take full advantage of the cost effectiveness of the online media platform while assuring the Minister of a good working relationship with members.
