FG to improve infrastructural facilities nationwide – Shettima

The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima has reiterated President Tinubu’s determination and commitment to address basic infrastructural facilities issues in the country including Gamboru- Ngala-Dikwa, and Maiduguri -Bama-Banki-Damboa – Biur federal Trunk ‘A’ roads in Borno State.

Kashim, who stated this on Wednesday at the Shehu of Borno’s palace when he paid sallah homage, also assured the royal father that all these problems will soon be resolved.

Fielding questions from the media, Kashim said, “We went with His Excellency, the Governor, to pay respects to the Royal Highness, the Shehu of Borno. He brought up some very important issues for society, namely the lack of infrastructure. We sent him our warmest wishes on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“The Shehu discussed concerns with the roads that need to be resolved right away, particularly the Gamboru Ngala and Dikwa routes. It will undoubtedly be handled, as well as that of Damboa.

“I am here to assure him (the Shehu) of the maximum support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the vice president said.

He added that: “We shall overcome all of the difficulties we are facing together as a nation.”

“It will serve as a reminder of the commitment President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration has made to Nigeria and Nigerians, in the hope that the administration will continue to uphold its commitments to the people,” Kashim said.

In his remarks, Governor Babagana Umar Zulum commended the Vice President for being a grass-roots politician and a man of the people that cherish humility, tradition and culture of his people.

He added that because it was Vice President Shettima’s first Eid visit to the State, “the visit is very important to the Borno people, and it is a homecoming for our son.”

“This also entails going out to the people and demonstrating love, as well as learning from people’s experiences and receiving the elderly people’s blessing, from people who have been naturally there for him ever since he started on his path to greatness”, Zulum said

It will be recalled that the Vice President who observed his Eid el Kabir sallah two rakaat congregational prayers in Abuja with other this on Tuesday, arrived Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State around 11 am to attend to some personal commitments as part of tradition during festivities like Eid and left Maiduguri Wednesday morning.

Earlier, the Shehu of Borno State asked the Vice President to look into the problems with the state’s road network, notably the Maiduguri-Ngala- Dikwa road and Maiduguri-Bama-Bank road as well as Maiduguri-Damboa-Biu road.

He commended the VP for his commitment and respect to the traditional institution as well as support to people and government of Borno State.

“In order to lessen the burden of youth unemployment in the state and to facilitate government efforts to provide assistance to the state, Vice President I would like to bring to your too attention the necessity of hiring young people from Borno in particular at various government ministries and establishments. This is important because many graduates are looking for such opportunities,” the royal father said.
