
In a gesture aimed at promoting social welfare and educational advancement, the former Coordinator of Imoha Development Centre in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Hon. (Mrs.) Rose Nwankwo, has distributed food items and awarded bursaries to members of Inyere Autonomous Community.
The event, which took place on December 26, 2025, at her compound in Inyere community, formed part of her Christmas goodwill activities and witnessed the distribution of over 50 bags of rice, with each beneficiary also receiving additional essential items including a wrapper, to indigent women in the community. The initiative was designed to cushion the effects of prevailing economic hardship and enable beneficiaries to celebrate the festive season with dignity.
In addition to the food distribution, Hon. Mrs. Nwankwo awarded bursary grants of One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (₦150,000) each to five undergraduates from Inyere community, as part of efforts to support education and ease the financial burden on students and their families.
The beneficiaries of the bursary scheme are Nwafor Shedrack Chinagorom, Nwode Obinna Nweke, Anyigor Priscilla, Oyota Jacinta, and Nwite Miracle.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Mrs. Nwankwo emphasized the importance of education as a critical tool for personal empowerment and community development. She urged the beneficiaries to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to their academic pursuits in order to become worthy ambassadors of the community in the future.
She further assured the people of Inyere Autonomous Community that the gesture would not be a one-off initiative, but a sustained intervention, pledging to make the distribution of food items, wrappers, other essential materials, and bursary awards an annual event.
According to her, the move is part of her broader commitment to uplifting the living standards of the less privileged and encouraging academic excellence among youths in the community.
Other community stakeholders present at the occasion also charged the beneficiaries, particularly the students, to take their studies seriously and strive for excellence, noting that their success would translate into progress and pride for Inyere community.
The beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude to Hon. Mrs. Nwankwo for her generosity, describing the support as timely and impactful, especially in view of the current economic realities.
The event attracted wide commendation from community members, who described the former coordinator’s intervention as a reflection of purposeful leadership, compassion, and sustained commitment to grassroots development.
