Former APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje
All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, is reportedly set to resign from his position due to intense zoning agitations within the party.
According to sources, Ganduje’s exit is part of a strategic move to calm rising tensions among APC stakeholders from the North-Central zone, who have been demanding the return of the party’s top office to the zone.
A source close to the party revealed that Ganduje would be succeeded in an acting capacity by one of the party’s national vice chairmen until a substantive chairman is elected at the APC national convention scheduled for December 2025.
Ganduje, the immediate past governor of Kano State, was appointed APC Chairman in August 2023 following the resignation of former national chairman Abdullahi Adamu from the North Central zone.
However, his tenure has faced increasing resistance from within the party, particularly from those who view his appointment as a violation of the party’s internal zoning arrangements.
Although no official statement has been issued by Ganduje or the party, sources indicate that preparations for a formal handover are already underway.
The development is expected to ease tensions within the party and pave the way for a more harmonious leadership structure.
