ARMSTRONG ALLAHMAGANI, Bauchi –

No fewer than three people have lost their lives in a fatal crash that occurred on Tuesday night at Dungulbi village, which is about 10 kilometers from Bauchi Metropolis, the Federal Road Safety Corp has said.

The Sector Commander, FRSC, Bauchi State, Yusuf Abdullahi, who disclosed this on Wednesday, said that two people also sustained various degrees of injuries in the crash.

According to him, the crash involved a Toyota Hiace commercial bus, with registration number: GME-74 YX and a private vehicle, a Station Wagon Opel vectra with registration number: DSA-120 AA.

He said that the crash was caused by a tyre burst which resulted into a head-on collision.

“The incident happened opposite the Muslim burial ground junction, yesterday at about 8.32pm. It was caused by tyre burst as was confirmed to our men by the passengers who survived.

“The tyre burst led to the crash because when it happened, the driver lost control and then had a head-on collision with the other car in the opposite direction.

“The victims were rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where three of them were confirmed dead. Two others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

“The driver of the bus who was trapped died as a result of the fire while two passengers in the other vehicle died,” he disclosed.

According to the FRSC Boss, the station wagon vehicle was not engulfed in the fire while the Toyota Hiace bus caught fire after the crash happened.

He said that the obstructions have been cleared as the vehicles were handed over to the Motor Transport Department of the Nigerian Police Force.

He called on motorists to avoid over-speeding, night travels and other practices that put their lives and that of other road users and their properties at risk.
