Kobbie Mainoo
Kobbie Mainoo is getting closer to signing a new long-term deal with Kobbie Mainoo at Manchester United, with talks now at an advanced stage.
The contract is expected to run until June 2031 and will come with an improved salary as the club looks to reward his rise in the first team.
Nothing has been signed yet, but both sides are said to be in agreement on most of the key terms. An official announcement is expected before the end of the season, although it could come earlier if final details are sorted quickly.
Mainoo’s situation at Old Trafford has shifted quite a bit in recent times. There was a stage when uncertainty surrounded his long-term place, and questions were being asked about how he would fit into the club’s plans going forward.
That picture has changed. He has worked his way into a more regular role and has steadily grown in influence within the squad.
Supporters have also seen that progress, with Mainoo beginning to look more settled and more trusted in the side. Some of the early doubts around his ability to cope at the highest level have gradually faded.
For now, the focus is on finalising the deal, with United keen to lock down one of their most promising young players for the long term.
