
Troops of sector 2 operation FANSAN YAMMA have neutralized terrorists, rescued 3 kidnapped victims and recovered a cache of arms and logistics In ongoing efforts to rid Zamfara State of banditry and terrorist activities.
Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army / Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, disclosed this in the statement on Saturday.
Lt. Col. Osoba said the operational successes were recorded across Zurmi and Shinkafi Local Government Areas of Zamfara State
He said: “On 12 June 2026, during a fighting patrol by troops covering Birnin Saba, Yanbuki and Sabon Garin Daudawa in Zurmi Local Government Area, troops made contact with a group of terrorists in Yanbuki District.
“In the ensuing firefight, the gallant troops neutralized one terrorist and recovered rifles, 4 magazines loaded with ammunition, 2 motorcycles, 7 mobile phones and 2 MP3 players as well as one woodland camouflage trouser and an inner vest
“As the patrol advanced to Sabon Garin Daudawa, the terrorists, sensing the superior firepower of the advancing troops, abandoned their camp and fled prior to the troops’ arrival. The troops subsequently cleared and completely destroyed the terrorists enclave.
In a separate operation, troops conducting a routine patrol successfully ambushed terrorists along the Shinkafi – Moriki axis. During the encounter, one terrorist was neutralized while troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, 5 magazines, one Baofeng communication radio, 2 motorcycles and assorted charms.
It worthy of note that the troops successfully rescued three kidnapped victims during the operations. The rescued individuals are currently receiving necessary care and efforts are ongoing to reunite them with their respective families.
The Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA said its remains resolute in its commitment to restoring peace and security in Zamfara State by extension the North-West region.
