Gov Kefas inaugurates a committee to review LG revenue collection

The governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas has inaugurated a committee to review and appraise the performance of Local Government Councils revenue collection in the state.

Governor Kefas in a statement by his  Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Yusuf Sanda said the committee is headed by the Attorney General of Taraba State and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Yakubu Maikasuwa (SAN).

The statement further explained that, Dr. Jeji Williams, the chief of staff to Taraba State government house administration is a member, and the chairman Taskforce committee on Illegal Mining and Deforestation, Brig, Gen. Jeremiah Farensa (rtd) is serving as member.

Other members are Prof. Oliver Nicholas Namessan commissioner of Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Barr. Zainab Usman Jalingo, Commissioner of Information, Dr. Sarah Enoch Adi, Commissioner of Finance.

Hon. Sale Sa’ad, chairman Palliative care committee, member, as well as the Taraba State ALGON chairman, Dr. Aminu Hassan Jauro with his ALGON vice Chairman Hon. Agbu Samaila Dauda, chairman Wukari Local Government Council. Dr. Babangida Hassan, permanent secretary Bureau of Local Government, Traditional and Chieftaincy Affairs, and Muhammed Umar, chairman Sardauna Local Government as secretary.

The constituted committee terms of reference is to proffer solution on the best method of revenue collection to meet the global standard, determine how Local Government Councils revenue are collected, when collected and kept.

They are to determine those Local Government Councils that mortgaged their revenue points or collections to individual or group of outside government approved collectors.

The committee which has fourteen days to complete it assignment is to recommend how government can block leakages in revenue collection of local government Areas, and make further recommendation to boost internally generated revenue of government of Taraba State.
