
Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia has demonstrated full commitment of his good intension for the development of the state.
The Director General (DG) Bureau of Special Projects and Infrastructure, Professor Gabriel Akpen disclosed this on Thursday while addressing journalists at the NUJ house in Makurdi.
Professor Akpen noted that the commitment of the governor for the development of the state has propelled the government to construct roads among other projects in various parts of the state.
The DG told journalists that about twenty one roads were being constructed in Makurdi and the contractors have been mobilized with fifty percent of the contract sum.
According to Professor Akpen, the work on new Government House complex was on going to enable the state have a befitting structure for Benue State Government.
He revealed that the Benue State Government was working in conjunction the Local Government Councils in the state explaining to that the state government would provide sixty percent while the forty percent of the contract sum would be paid by the Local Government Council concerned.
Akpen informed that contract has also been awarded on the fifty two kilometer Awajir – Oju road and the contractor has been mobilized to site and announced also that work was ongoing on the Adikpo – Koti tough – Vandeikya road.
The DG who revealed that dualisation of Ishaya Bakut road in Makurdi was ongoing among other road projects in different parts of the state disclosing also that contract has been awarded for construction of canals both at Idye and Benue Links areas to check flooding.
He stated that survey for more road projects was being conducted for the benefit of the people of the state adding that thirty three erosion control sites have been identified to check erosion in the state.
