
Some of the Benue State customized sacks formally commissioned for use in Makurdi

The Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Iormem Alia has flagged off the distribution and sale of Benue State customized sacks for use by farmers and traders in Benue State.
The formal .distribution and sale of the state customized sacks took place on Friday at the Ultra Modern International Market in Makurdi.
Represented by the Chief of Staff, Paul Biam, Governor Alia informed that the production of the Benue sacks was a deliberate attempt to make Benue farmers get value for the farm produce.
The Governor noted that the sacks were carefully designed to meet the needs of the Benue farmers as he expressed the belief that the sacks would reduce the problems farmers used to face while trying to sell their farm produce.
Governor Alia expressed confidence that Benue farmers would no longer be shortchanged by middlemen noting also that it would encourage Benue farmers to put in more efforts in ensuring food security in the state and assured farmers that their days of agony had gone.
He announced that full implementation of the new sacks would commence on October I, 2024 and stressed that no other sacks would be used in the state from that day.
The state Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Manasseh Alumo Orpin in his comment appreciated Governor Alia for the progressive efforts aimed at transforming the state.
The Commissioner who disclosed that the governor was encouraging all to be productive told the people at the ceremony that what Governor Alia was doing cut across the whole state and sued for support to enable the Governor succeed.
Also speaking the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government Coordination and Monitoring, Isaac Akaangee also noted that with the new sacks in the Benue markets, farmers would have value for their farm produce.
The Special Adviser informed that adequate measures have been put in place to avoid any form of sabotage and assured that monitoring officers would also be in place to check excesses as well as infiltration.
In his remarks the Benue State Farmers and Traders Protection Association, Manasseh Torsue said the introduction of the state owned sacks was the beginning of good things for farmers.
While lamenting what farmers used to go through, the Chairman expressed confidence that the Governor would continue to do things that would favour the Benue farmers.
The Director of Senajjcks Global Resources, producers of the sacks, Joseph Chiahemba appreciated the state government for patronizing them, saying it was part of their contribution to support the Governor even as they wanted the cost of the sacks to be moderate and affordable
