The President General of Kunav United Development Association (KUDA), Emmanuel Tor Yaji Who is the community leader of the Benue State Governor in Kunav, Vandeikya Local Government Area has regained his freedom.
The victim was rescued unhurt and has been reunited with friends and family.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO Benue State Police Command, Sewuese Catherine Anene, said following report of the kidnap of Mr. Emmanuel Tor Yaji an intense rescue operation was launched.
Anene said the police team in Kwande Local Government Area located the kidnappers at Nambe Adikpo town and engaged them in a gun duel.
The police spokesperson noted that one of the suspects sustained gunshot injuries and was eventually confirmed dead by a doctor.
Anene revealed that one of the suspects was arrested while two others took to their heels even as investigation to arrest the suspects at large she noted was ongoing.
Items recovered deceased suspect include one (1) AK-47 rifle loaded with twelve (12) rounds of live ammunition and three (3) AK-47 magazine.
It could be recalled that the President General of KUDA was kidnapped on Monday in his village, this development propelled the police to swiftly move into action and they in subsequently rescued him.
