Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu has flagged off the first Pastor Ekpeyong Ita Memorial Golf Tournament at the Calabar Golf Club
Addressing golfers at the Calabar Golf Club, the governor promised the Calabar Golf Club will be given a face lift starting with the fencing
The governor promised to prioritize their demand and in keeping to the tradition of the Club as a member
The governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Sports Development Agnes Atsu said the governor is very passionate about the club the very day he was made a member of the club

” I , am here on dual capacity first to represent the governor and console with Pastor Ekpeyong Ita Memorial Golf Tournament and the family be rest assured that the governor is going to support you,”
The captain of the Club, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Sabo (Rtd) commended Governor Otu for his interest in sports development in the state
He also commended the commissioner for showing interest in Sports Development. He also described the late Pastor Ekpeyong Ita as a shining star that should be emulated
His first son Prince Nyoki Ita said the family are celebrating their late father because of his legacy.
According to him, the Ekpeyong family is unique, he has been his mentor, and lovers of sports in general.
He has sponsored the Obong of Calabar Golf tournament first and second edition etc.
He said the Ekpeyong Ita Memorial golf tournament will be an annual golf tournament and that is why golfers from all parts of the country are participating in the game.
