President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on becoming the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history, describing the feat as a reflection of the confidence and trust reposed in him by the Indian people.
In a congratulatory message issued on Monday, President Tinubu said the historic achievement underscored Modi’s enduring popularity and his commitment to national development over three consecutive electoral mandates.
“I warmly congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the historic milestone of becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister,” Tinubu stated.
The Nigerian leader noted that Modi’s leadership qualities and dedication to public service had earned him admiration both within India and across the international community.
“This remarkable achievement reflects the enduring confidence and trust the people of India have reposed in his leadership over three consecutive mandates. His dedication to public service, commitment to national development, and influential leadership on the global stage continue to inspire millions worldwide,” he said.
President Tinubu also highlighted the cordial relationship between Nigeria and India, describing Modi as a dependable ally and personal friend.
“Beyond being a great friend of Nigeria, Prime Minister Modi is a personal friend and trusted ally whom I can always count on. Over the years, I have come to deeply admire his wisdom, courage, and commitment to the progress and prosperity of his nation,” Tinubu added.
The President further acknowledged Modi’s role in strengthening bilateral relations between both countries, noting that the Indian leader had been honoured with one of Nigeria’s highest national awards.
“As a distinguished recipient of Nigeria’s national honour, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), he has also contributed immensely to strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two countries,” he said.
Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s goodwill towards India and wished the Indian Prime Minister continued success in office.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Nigeria, I wish Prime Minister Modi continued good health, wisdom, and success as he leads India to even greater heights,” the President stated.
