Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has flagged off a statewide mobilization campaign aimed at ensuring massive participation in the upcoming voter registration exercise.
The initiative, he said, is key to deepening democracy and promoting inclusive governance across the state.
Speaking through the State Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, on Monday in Kaduna, the Governor called on all eligible citizens to register, describing the exercise as a “pivotal moment” in shaping the future of the state.
“This is not just about voter registration—it’s about safeguarding the democratic rights of our people and ensuring that no one is left behind in the governance process,” Maiyaki said.
He revealed that a multi-agency strategy involving traditional institutions, religious leaders, and local government structures was already underway to ensure the campaign reaches the grassroots.
“We’re taking the message to every ward, village, mosque, church, market, and town hall. The goal is to make sure every eligible voter knows when, where, and how to register,” he added.
Governor Uba Sani, known for prioritizing citizen engagement, views the campaign as a cornerstone of his administration’s people-first approach.
According to Maiyaki, the initiative reflects the Governor’s belief that inclusive political participation is essential for equitable development.
“This mobilization drive reflects the Governor’s vision of a people-centred administration, where every voice counts and every citizen has a stake in shaping the future of Kaduna State,” he said.
Maiyaki emphasized that the campaign is strictly non-partisan and seeks to strengthen democratic institutions by increasing citizen participation in governance.
“When more people register and vote, governance becomes more representative and responsive to the needs of all,” he explained.
Special focus will be placed on mobilizing youth and women, who often face unique barriers to political participation. The campaign will include partnerships with civil society groups, media houses, women’s organizations, and youth networks.
“Women and young people are the backbone of our democracy. Their involvement will ensure more inclusive and impactful governance,” he said.
In the coming weeks, town hall meetings, radio jingles, and grassroots outreach activities will kick off across the state’s 23 local government areas, with the aim of delivering Kaduna’s highest voter registration turnout yet.
Maiyaki concluded with a call for collective action: “This is a collective effort. We urge all stakeholders to come together to make this campaign a historic success.”
