BY RICHARD ABU, Nasarawa –

Labaran Shuaibu Magaji, a senatorial aspirant in the just concluded primary election for Nasarawa West Senatorial District on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who left for a brief holiday to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has returned to Nigeria.

Magaji, who is popularly known as “the Matawale Toto’, was received at Abaji, a neighboring Council from the Federal Capitol Territory and was ushered into Toto town by thousands of party’s supporters, chanting songs and party’s slogans.

The convoy drove at the snail speed intermittently causing traffic gridlock that was controlled by police and other security agencies including vigilante members.

His first post of call was at the Palace of the Emir of Toto, where he was received by His Highness the Onah of Toto , Chief Usman Azaki, who commended him for towing the path of peace by remaining in the APC where he was cheated in an election that he won.

The traditional monarch flanked by all the title holders, advised Barrister Labaran Magaji to remain in the ruling party but pursue his mandate legally and legitimately.

Labaran Magaji told the traditional ruler that after hard times of campaigns, he decided to take a week off to recuperate and pray to the Almighty Allah for divine direction.

Addressing thousands of APC supporters at the public square, Magaji told the crowd that even though he believed in the internal mechanism of the party to resolve the matter, time was not on the side of the panel to resolve the case within 14 days as he has already approached a court of competent jurisdiction to retrieve his mandate.
