Across the land, Bola Tinubu is fondly called Asiwaju— the Lagos title for a leader, it depicts his strong character.
Bola Tinubu is highly-talented in getting talents out of unexpected. Haven identified many talents to the development of Lagos and those talents, it was time to rally round him immediately he announced his ambition to plight the flag of the All Progressive Congress.
Few stood, many ran away and many betrayed his trust, one of those who betrayed was the man who was made the Speaker of the House of Representatives against all odds by Asiwaju.
A motley gang-up was initiated to scuttle his political ambition at all costs.
It was gathered that while others within the Lagos hierarchy of the All Progressive Congress were working towards emergence of Tinubu as the party candidate, in the primary election, the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila was equally working to end Tinubu’s dream.
An agreement was initiated to support the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan candidacy while he was promised to be returned as the Speaker of the House of Representatives while his close ally to be nominated by him will be given the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF).
The man who announced a consensus candidate led this team of agreement.
Recall that the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Abdulahi Adamu had announced the Senate President as the consensus candidate at the eve of the Presidential primary of the party.
The presidential primary election of the APC, was the opportunity for Gbajabiamila and co-conspirators to show their hands and even after dancing naked in the public, they are still going around thumbing their chests and boasting that they are part of Asiwaju’s success; when, indeed, what they were after was to do incalculable damage to his benefactor’s aspiration.
The presumed reasons for the actions of Gbajabiamila and his men plainly offend sensibilities.
A great shame and pity of the infamy of his, is the attempt to consciously sacrificed the future of Yoruba and its people on the altar of his selfishness. In his inordinate desire to betray his benefactor and assume the new Leader.
Gbajabiamila despite his educational prowess look at governance from the narrow prism; and not from the broader point of view of selfless service to the community for sustainable development.
To him, Asiwaju was too old to be President and must leave the stage for them. This was the reason he insisted of returning to the House in 2023.Have you ask why a man that is a Speaker will go back to the house as ordinary member?
Bola Tinubu himself is acknowledged as the apostle of good governance, crusader for prudence in public administration and advocate of mass literacy, among others. The gang-up of Gbajabiamila and his ilk would have rightly shown that whom God has blessed no one can curse.
Gbaja should not reap where he did not sow. He conspired with the cabal to end Asiwaju’s political ambition. Such a man should not come close to him again.
