ARMSTRONG ALLAHMAGANI, Bauchi
A renowned Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Dahiru-Bauchi, has stated that he would have prevented the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, from entering his house, if he had joined the former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi in visiting him.
He said this when Sanusi paid him a visit at his house in Bauchi on Monday to seek for his blessings and support over his new appointment as the leader of Tijaniya Islamic Sect in Nigeria.
The Nonagenarian alleged that El-Rufai stormed his house in Kaduna with soldiers, arrested our almajirai and took them to an unknown destination.
He said: “Where is El-Rufa’i? I thought he will be in your entourage, I would have asked my guards not to allow him step into this compound”.
“I am happy you heard about what El-Rufai did. After he arrested our Quranic Students, he put them in a car and took them to the bush and dumped them there. He sent soldiers who went to my house past 2am, he fired teargas and woke everyone up both the children and the almajirai.
“They arrested all the almajirai there, they put them in a car and went away with them, we don’t know where El-Rufai took them to.
“What was their offence? That they are Quranic Students and because of that, we feel anybody that treats Quranic Students like that is not our lover and not someone that will get blessings from us”.
“I am not happy over this action taken by the El-Rufa’i. It is an affront to me and I did not do anything to deserve such a treatment.”
Sanusi in a response while defending El-Rufa’i whom he described as his trusted friend, appealed for forgiveness on his behalf, saying that he and the governor were not even in the country when the incident happened.
He expressed optimism that because of his relationship with the Sheikh, if he had come with Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, he (Sheikh) would have allowed him enter here and leave safely.
He said that he has been making frantic efforts to intervene in the matter even as he pleaded with his followers and loved ones not to always escalate issues like this when they happen.
“What always makes sitting with Sheikh very important is that Sheikh Dahiru-Bauchi doesn’t backbite and whoever you are, he will tell you what is in his mind and this is what is expected”.
“I will never want anything that will touch Sheikh because as I keep saying, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai is my trusted friend. What is incumbent on me who is between the Sheikh and my trusted friend is to do my best make corrections and broker peace, to also pray that God settles the matter”.
“I want to repent and apologize on his behalf that to forgive him and I promise that I will intervening in this matter until peace is brokered. But I won’t be fair to myself if I see this anger that Sheikh has with my brother and I didn’t intervene and we know how your anger can be and I won’t want any of my lover to incur your wrath.
“I am therefore begging that for my sake, forgive and I’ll speak with some of brothers to see how we can correct this to the best of our ability. But we are repenting, we are pleading and we ask the Sheikh that if there is any mistake, God should help us correct and help us do the right things and obedience,” he stated.
