Insurgency: NAOWA president tasks members to support husbands at war front

The National President of Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA), Hajiya Salamatu Farouq Yahaya has charged members of the association across the country to always be supportive, serene and prayerful for their husbands who are busy fighting insurgency and crimes in the north east and other parts of the country.

Hajiya Yahaya also urged the male officers to be supportive and caring to their spouses who are saddled with the responsibility of taking care of the house, children, facilities and workers left behind until they are back from operational activities.

The NAOWA president stated this in her remarks during a grand reception and dinner party organized in her honour by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division, Nigerian Army, Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri.

She further appreciated the Nigerian Army officers and troops for their sacrifices and efforts in restoring peace across the country as well as providing security to the citizens and nation .

According to her, “NAOWA is today a technological center where it has introduced human resources management , business and vocational skills acquisitions programmes in almost all the NAOWA centers across the country”

“NAOWA has over 40 model NAOWA nursery and primary schools”, while calling on women to fully participate in the scheme.

The Theater Commander, JTF Operation Hadin Kai Theater Command Headquarters Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri, Major General Chris G. Musa thanked her for the honour and recognition accorded the platform.

Maj. Gen. Musa noted that: “In history, this is the first time the platform JTF Operation Hadin Kai is getting such large number of promotions and other privileges under the leadership of the present COAS, Lt. Gen. Umar Farouq Yahaya, her husband

He said the theater Command was glad by her presence and also impressed with all the activities of NAOWA, while praying God to continue to guide and protect her as she steer the affairs of the association to greater heights.

He further said the theater command’s officers and troops highly acknowledged the supports of COAS and NAOWA leadership with over 30,000 Boko Haram terrorists surrendered.

He reassured the determination and commitment of officers and soldiers of JTF Operation Hadin Kai Theater Command Headquarters to end the Insurgency this year 2022.

“Peace is here and peace will continue to be in Borno and North East. Peace is gradually being restored with what we are seeing and happening around. You can visit places and see for yourselves. Socio economic activities unlike in the past have returned and normalcy has returned with normal activities going on in may places compared to the last”, Musa said

On his part, The General Officer Commanding (GOC). 7 Division Nigerian Army, Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri, Major General Wahidi Shaibu, said the grand reception and dinner night was organized in honour of the NAOWA National President, Hajiya Salamatu Farouq Yahaya’s immense role and contributions of NAOWA to the Nigerian Army.

He described NAOWA members as warriors, courageous, prayerful, supportive and able to keep their husbands in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency while appreciating the members of NAOWA of the Nigerian Army.

Highlights of the event include musical and dance displays, group photographs, gifts presentation to the guest of honour and other dignitaries.
