Ior Gboko Foundation visits Old People’s Home in Makurdi

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility objective, the ‘Ior Gboko Foundations, a non-governmental organization, paid a visit to the Old People’s Home in Makurdi, Benue State, on Sunday with Christmas palliatives and goodwill messages.

Led by its President Dr. Jimmy Ajim, the group donated a number of items, including foodstuffs and cash, to those in the Old People’s Home, located within the Judges Quarters Layout, off Gboko Road in the Benue State capital.

Formed about four years ago, the IGF is made up of people who were born, passed through or lived at some point in life  in Gboko, the traditional headquarters of the Tiv people worldwide.

The binding spirit among all members of the Foundation is the desire and willingness to give back to Gboko and its people.

Sunday’s visit by the Ior Gboko Foundation, put smiles on the faces of the old and aged residents of the Old People’s Home, who also showed deep appreciation and prayed for God’s protection and blessings to enable the group to sustain its philanthropic and charitable work.

Reacting to news about the visit, Bishop William Amove Avenya  of the Catholic Diocese of Gboko remarked: “I thank you for the good work you are doing.  I am hopeful that your kindness shall also touch us at paradiso dei bambini run by the Catholic Diocese of Gboko situated near Fidel Polytechnic.”

A retired Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) of Immigration,  Emmanuel Gbuuga, said that the Bishop’s remark was not far-fetched.

 

“Your good works are recognized and appreciated by His Lordship, Bishop of Gboko Diocese hence this request for your intervention. Very commendable impact.  Your purposeful leadership is impactful. Keep it up pls,” ACG Gbuuga (rtd) explained in a message to the IGF President, Dr. Ajim.

 

After the visit to the Old People’s Home and other activities in Makurdi, members of the IGFhad lunch and drinks at the popular Aver Restaurant & Bar, resolving to visit the Mkar Orphanage and the Juvenile Correctional Centre in Gboko South next Saturday.
