The G7 has reaffirmed its strong stance on Iran’s nuclear program, emphasizing that the country “can never” have nuclear weapons.
In a joint statement released by its Foreign Ministers and the High Representative of the European Union, the group urged Iran to refrain from reconstituting its unjustified enrichment activities.
“We reaffirm that the Islamic Republic of Iran can never have nuclear weapons, and urge Iran to refrain from reconstituting its unjustified enrichment activities,” the statement read.
The G7 also called for the resumption of negotiations, resulting in a comprehensive, verifiable, and durable agreement that addresses Iran’s nuclear program.
The G7 emphasized the importance of peace and stability in the Middle East, reaffirming Israel’s right to defend itself.
“In this context, we reaffirm that Israel has a right to defend itself.
“We reiterate our support for the security of Israel,” the group said. The G7 also welcomed efforts in the region towards stabilization and de-escalation, appreciating Qatar’s role in facilitating the ceasefire.
