Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding digital literacy and ensuring equal access to technology-driven education for children across the state.
Speaking at the “Class Is Open Everywhere” DigiTruck Digital Skills Training Programme on Tuesday, the governor said deliberate efforts are being made to bridge the digital divide between urban and rural communities.
He stressed that no child would be discriminated against on the basis of location.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Barrister Gloria Ibrahim, the governor noted that access to technology and digital skills is no longer a luxury but a necessity in today’s fast-changing world.
He said students in Kaduna State must not only receive formal education but must also be equipped with practical skills that prepare them for emerging opportunities in the global economy.
According to him, the DigiTruck initiative is designed to take learning directly to students through a fully equipped mobile digital classroom that will visit secondary schools across the state.
“We are bringing learning to the students instead of waiting for students to find learning. Opportunity must not be limited by location,” he said.
Governor Sani explained that the programme would introduce participants to basic computing, artificial intelligence fundamentals, digital creativity and other critical 21st-century skills required for innovation and leadership.
He disclosed that during its stay in Kaduna State, the DigiTruck is expected to reach between 20 and 30 schools across the three senatorial zones, impacting over 1,000 students.
He added that for many beneficiaries, it would be their first practical exposure to technology.
The governor expressed confidence that the initiative would spark curiosity, build confidence and inspire students to see themselves not just as consumers of technology but as creators and problem-solvers.
He urged them to participate actively and maximise the opportunity, noting that the future they are preparing for is already unfolding.
