King Wadada also known as Austin Peter, has announced the release of his new single titled “Yahoo” in May.
Wadada, a Nigerian reggae musician, singer, and songwriter disclosed this while speaking with NAN on Wednesday in Lagos.
He said that the musical single attempts to draw the attention of the society and government to the negative effects of the activities of the popular “Yahoo boys” on other youths in the society.
He explained that the activities of ”Yahoo boys,” known as individuals who engage in internet fraud, money laundering and money ritual were not properly checked thereby negatively impacting on other innocent youths in the society.
According to him, Government must design better ways to curtail the activities of ‘Yahoo boys”.
”My new single which I titled “Yahoo”, aims to draw the attention of our government at different levels to the dangers associated with the illegal acts if not properly curtailed.
” “Yahoo which is known as interment fraud is embraced by a lot of youths, this must be looked into by parents and government.
” My music is to correct societal ills, internet fraud began with the elderly ones in the society and the youths also embraced it, it is a problem that government need to wade into speedily.
” The single will be released online on various music streaming platforms,” he said
According to him, to address this problem, Government must engage the youths positively by creating inexhaustible platforms through which the youths can acquire various forms of skills.
He said with this, the youths will be able to ignore that bad practice.
He urged religious leaders to counsel the youths more on the need to remain hardworking, diligent and focused on legal means of wealth creation at their various religious gatherings.
Wadada, won the National Encomium Magazine (Amen Award) as the Best Reggae Artist for the year 2000 to 2002, the 2010 All African Music Awards (KORA) for best reggae artist on the African continent, Vest Spiritual Music (NMA) Nigeria Music Award London 2005 and Celebrity Award 2013 celebrating Nigeria (CN).
