Member representing Kwande East State Constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly, Thomas Dugeri has tasked his people to imbibe the virtues of love, unity and peace so as to achieve development in their area.
Speaking in Gboko where he hosted the leadership of his community, Shangev Ya Development Association SHADA Gboko branch, Hon Dugeri pointed out that members of the community were very committed to unity, peace and development which propelled them to success in all their endeavors wherever they are.
The legislator informed that “As people of proven integrity I urge you never to waver but strive harder so that you reap the benefits of living in peace. You have no record of misdeeds so with unity among you, you can attain your goals”.
Dugeri highlighted some of his achievements which includes the construction of a Secretariat for the community at the national headquarters at Koti, Mbaduku, donation of exercise books to school children, award of scholarship to students and registration of WAEC and NECO across Shangev Ya and Nanev in addition to caring for the welfare of widows, orphans and the sick.
He advised Shangev Ya people to rally their support and loyalty to the Governor Hyacinth Alia administration which has some good plans for them and expressed the hope that the major deplorable roads in Shangev Ya shall be constructed by the state government.
Earlier in his speech, the former President of SHADA Gboko branch and now President Kwande United People Organization (KWUPO), Elder Terhemen Ligom explained to the parliamentarian the challenges the community was facing in Gboko but has been able to survived and launched back and is waxing strong under the current leadership.
Also commenting, the President Shangev Ya, Mr. Terfa Ayoosu sought for the collaboration of all and sundry to promote good initiatives, identify with Shangev Ya sons and daughters in leadership positions to enable them attract development to the clan.
Mr Ayôôsu cautioned his people against pull down syndrome which according to him is a major set back for not only the person being vilified but the entire society, emphasizing that when the people speak good about their people they receive unprecedented blessings and share with others.
The association decorated Pharmacist Dugeri and his wife in Tiv traditional attire with the spear and a goat skin bag to match as they feast till dusk.
