
Chief Chibueze Agbo, the LP’s candidate for Ebonyi/Ohaukwu House of Representatives, said he would sponsor a bill to establish old people’s homes in all states of the federation, if elected.
Agbo said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abakaliki on Saturday.
He promised to pursue enhanced welfare for the elderly, adding that the homes shall have adequate security and better living condition.
He further promised to sponsor a bill for psychiatric homes to be established across the country.
“I will also push for a law to compel local, state and federal governments to take the mentally sick people out of the streets.
“Such category of persons could be seen on the streets only when they are certified healthy,” Agbo said.
The former Commissioner for Education also promised to sponsor a bill to have WAEC and NECO fees properly regulated by the government.
He also pledged to sponsor a bill for the uniformity of fees payable in universities as may be approved by the Ministry of Education.
Agbo promised to offer university scholarships to 140 students at five persons per ward in the 28 wards in the constituency.
He gave assurance that he would produce 280 millionaires in the constituency at 10 millionaires per ward through massive wealth creation initiatives and empowerment.
“I will provide direct empowerment to 4,200 farmers at 150 per ward in the constituency.
“I will ensure regular trainings for farmers and businessmen,” Agbo, a former SDP Governorship Candidate, said.
He further promised to collaborate with the government and other development agencies to transform the constituency.
He hoped that candidates in the 2023 General Elections would be voted for according to their past records.
“That is why I am urging my people to vote for me as my past work in government and private practice speaks for me,” he said. (NAN)
