Facts have started coming up as to why the herdsmen came and killed about twenty people including children from the Wan-doo, Mbakyor, Mbalom, Masev in Gwer East Local Government of Benue State.

NATIONAL ACCORD correspondent who sought to know the immediate cause of the attack and killing of innocent and armless villagers gathered that the herdsmen planned and came to carryout their evil plan.

According to a witness, who pleaded anonymity informed that herdsmen were not close to the affected community but in their usual way of grazing openly, used to come to the affected people’s farmland to graze.

Following their continued grazing on their land, some members of the community approached them and pleaded that they should stop grazing on their land as it hardens the soil and makes farming difficult.

As the plea fell on the deaf ears of the herders, they continued to bring their cattle for grazing, a situation that propelled the community members to arrest three of the herdsmen and brought them to the police station in Aliade, Gwer East Local Government.

Our investigation also proved that the Police also swung into action by beginning to investigate the issue as they invited leaders from the community and the herders where the herders allegedly offered money in the name of compensation but as further alleged the community leaders refused to collect anything from the herders on grounds that they would claim the next day that they have bought the piece of land

We learnt that the detention and firm refusal that the herdsmen should not graze on their land angered them as they allegedly went back only to visit the community with sophisticated weapons to kill the armless members of the community.
