The Director General and Publisher of Taraba News, Gabriel Olayinka, has emphasized the need for media managers to embrace entrepreneurship to save the industry from collapse.
Mr. Olayinka, who spoke as a guest lecturer at Taraba State University’s Mass Communication Master’s class, stressed that successful media establishments require a forward-thinking approach, dreaming big, and driving media entrepreneurship ideas.
With an accounting background, Olayinka highlighted the importance of business-specific knowledge in managing a media outfit, including generating revenue and effective resource management.
He also emphasized the need for general business knowledge, human resource management, learning, and training skills to sustain a media organization.
Olayinka appealed to media managers to view media management as a creative business requiring skills, innovation, talent, and personal qualities.
He encouraged them to develop business ideas, advertising, and media uniqueness to stay competitive.
