Most politicians exploit Nigerians due to hunger, poverty — Angwe
The National Legal Adviser of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Prof. Bem Angwe, has lamented that most politicians have taken advantage of the hunger and poverty in the country to exploit Nigerians leaving them without hope.
Angwe disclosed this during the inauguration of the State Executive Committee of the party on Wednesday in Makurdi.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 36-member executive committee had retired Group Capt. Stephen Adah as Chairman and Mr John Tine as Secretary.
“Hunger and poverty remained the dangerous weapons exploited to the disadvantage of the citizens.
“This must stop and the party that can put an end to this ugly trend is our dear party, the New Nigeria Peoples Party.
NNPP has come to rescue Nigeria and improve the living standards of the people who currently seem to have lost hope or are losing hope as they battle with hunger, insecurity and poverty,” the legal adviser said.
He tasked the party members for a sustained door-to-door mobilisation as the party currently represented the best alternative to take over governance in 2023.
“With all structures in place at the state level, members should step up activities, preaching equity and justice and be open in their conduct.
“There is no time to go criticising people and other parties, party officials should use their energies to preach the need for a paradigm shift and not the usual rhetoric of shouting and talking down on people,” he said.
In his acceptance speech, the State Chairman, Group Capt. Stephen Adah (Rtd.) appreciated the delegates for electing them to pilot the affairs of the party in the state.
Adah pledged that the new officials were committed to moving the party forward and called for total loyalty from members of the party to enable them to succeed.
The chairman promised to carry all members of the party along in order to give them a sense of belonging.
Earlier, the Chairman of the State Congress, Mr Philip Haruna, said that the party was going to set a pace for parties to follow, adding that NNPP was the party that Nigerians were craving for. (NAN)
