Nasarawa Emirate Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdullahi dies at 102

Nasarawa Emirate Council in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State has announced the passing away of the Chief Imam of the Nasarawa Emirate, Sheikh Malam Aliyu Abdullahi.

The late Sheikh Abdullahi died at the age of 102 years, according to a statement by the Secretary, Nasarawa Emirate Council, Dr Idris Mohammed Loko.

His funeral prayer was led by His Royal highness (HRH), the Emir of Nasarawa, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Jibrin in accordance to Islamic rite and laid to rest at the famous Nasarawa Burial Ground.

The funeral prayer was attended by distinguished traditional rulers, Arabic and Islamic Clerics, lecturers, tutors, scholars, imams of various mosques and former Governor of Nasarawa State and National Chairman of APC,, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

Others include top government officials and delegations from the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, Jos and Lafia as well as members of the national and state assemblies, amongst others.

The late Sheikh Abdullahi was the Chairman of the Nasarawa Emirate Council king makers that selected the Emir of Nasarawa for the throne.

He served honestly and transparently with good sense of responsibility and utmost dedication while describing him as a highly competent Quranic and Arabic leader, cleric and preacher.

“The demise of the Chief Imam after a brief illness is a great loss to not only the Nasarawa Emirate but to Nasarawa LGA, Nasarawa State and the nation at large”, the statement said.

Late Aliyu Abdullahi is survived by two wives, twenty children and many grand children as well as great grand children.
